These tubes were the largest nixies produced in the USSR more than 30 years ago and were widely used in various devices of that times. They have long been discontinued and there are a limited number of them left available.

This is reminded by the tube production date, the USSR "OTK" and the quality control marks, stamped on the back of each tube. Gas discharge indicators (glow discharge indicators) use the principle of inert gas glow in an electric field created around a metal electrode (cathode). Unlike incandescent tubes, discharge tubes do not heat up during operation. The Astronix tube clock is a unique product bearing an artifact of a bygone era in its design combined with modern electronic technology.

The thinnest available on the market circuit board is manufactured using SMD technology on an industrial automatic robotic assembly line without manual human intervention. The circuitry is very stable and accurate in operation, based on the powerful STM32 micro controller, high-precision real-time clock from Dallas Semiconductor and high-quality reliable SMD components. This is not a cheap disposable stucco, but a high quality high-tech expensive device that guarantees flawless operation of the board and nixie tubes during many years. The clock case is made on an industrial class CNC milling center out from a solid aluminum bar.

The clock is controlled by three buttons located on the back.
