The Nixie clock is based on discharge indicators IN-12, manufactured in the USSR. All components are new and have never been used. At present, gas-discharge indicators are not produced anymore, although in the past they were produced in a very big quantity so it's more than enough to create absolutely new mechanis ms based upon reliable technologies. Devices on gas discharge lamps are fascinating with their lights and are an excellent interior item in various rooms, especially decorated in retro or loft styles. The IN-12 indicator lamps are practically neon bulbs with a group of cathodes in the form of numbers.

The bulb is filled with low-pressure neon. Under the influence of a constant voltage, the cathode of the lamp emits orange-red light specific for neon filling. Depending on the applied voltage, one or another cathode shines alternately. Everything is like in an incandescent lamp, only light emits a gas discharge. The service life of such indicators is huge since there is no long and heavy load on one cathode.

For a full glow, a voltage should be not less than 100 V. Time is displayed on six indicator lamps in the HH:MM: SS format, in a 12 or 24-hour format.

Between the pairs of lamps there are dividing indicators of lamps. The date is displayed in the format DD-MM-YY for the 24-hour format or MM-DD-YY for the 12-hour format. YY - the last two digits of the year. It is also possible to display the date in the format DD-MM-WW (WW - day of the week).

There is also an option to display the temperature and date every 5 minutes automatically with a ticker effect and blue daylight. Changing the numbers on the indicators is possible with two effects to choose between. There is the alarm function with auto-repeat every 3 minutes (Mode - on, Set - delay, Menu - off), daily hourly alarm.
