This clock uses real Nixie tubes, manufactured in Ukraine and Russia the 1980's or earlier and stored (unused) since. Nixie tubes are a digital display device invented in the 1930's and used long before LEDs were invented. Nixies use a partial vacuum and neon gas inside a glass tube to light up a number-shaped wire under high voltage. Nixies are authentic vintage technology.

With the war in Ukraine, Nixies may become extremely hard to get. I do have a stock of extra tubes for service and repairs. The LED clocks are cheaper, but be aware that this is a very different technology and the look and feel of the clock is not the same. There is nothing that could possibly be on your desk that this clock will not complement or improve upon.

I have received many requests for a clock in this style, and I can not be happier with this result. This clock is milled from a solid piece of 6061 aluminum, and has a weighty heft. It is hand polished and then anodized to protect the surface from scratches, dust and finger prints. This is a very nice clock! 8" wide, 3" tall, and 4 deep Weight is 1lb, 11oz, not including the power adapter.

Fully assembled and ready to use. Comes with US power adapter. This clock can display 12 or 24 hour time. The crystal is accurate to within 20ppm (better than 1 minute/month), but the clock owner can optionally calibrate the clock and add an offset for much better accuracy (instructions included). The nixies can be set to dim or turn off during certain hours of the day. The clock can also be set to a dim brightness if desired. This clock does NOT have an alarm. Nixie tubes are neon filled tubes that glow when a voltage is applied to the wire inside the tube. They tubes use minimal power, and do not get noticeably warm. They are made of glass, and as such will break if the clock is dropped. As always, please feel free to contact me with any questions.
